Angelique has worked at the heart of leading news publishers for over 10 years, starting as an art director for several years with the Australian Financial Review in Sydney. Over the course of her career, she has been a delivery lead, software engineer, scrum master, art director, and UX designer.
In 2012 she moved to London to take up a role as a software engineer at the Financial Times. Being completely new to the technology industry, she was really surprised at how few women worked in technology. She became passionate about diversity and encouraging more women to go into STEM areas and in 2017 she founded and is currently chairing the first ever employee network at the Financial Times, FT Women UK.
Being ‘T’ shaped has been around for many years now and it’s recognized as an advantage for a person or a team. It means being good at lots of things, and expert at a few things. In her session Angelique will give you insight on how to get started in the technology sector, and the importance of diversifying your skills to make you an even more valuable team member.
