Andon Baltakov started his career as a journalist at Sofia's Vitosha Radio in 1994. A year later he became part of the team of the program “Horizon” - at first as a translator-journalist in the Audience Service of the program, and later he was the editor and presenter of the morning news of the Bulgarian National Radio.
In 2000, he emigrated to the United States, where he received a master's degree in business administration from Yale University.
He began his managerial career in the strategic planning department of the Associated Press agency, where he was deputy director. He worked at CNN as a senior director of business operations and video products.
Later, he was vice president in charge of news business at news aggregator ProQuest and chief operating officer of the social agency Storyful, part of Rupert Murdoch's company News Corp. In recent years, he has advised the management teams of information giants such as Reuters on new technologies and market development.
