Veselina Kavrakova

Veselina Kavrakova is the Executive Director of WWF Bulgaria, part of the global network of WWF, the largest conservation organization in the world. Her professional path developed in the non-governmental sector, with which she was engaged even before completing her education. He has been involved in the green non-governmental movement in Bulgaria since its inception.

An ecologist by education, with a master's degree in ecology and environmental protection from Sofia University and in environmental science and policy from the Central European University in Budapest. He has been working for WWF since 2002, initially as an expert and head of conservation projects and programs, and since 2007 as head of the organization. The mission of WWF — to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature — is also a personal mission of Veselina.

The Unknown Third Sector — NGO Work, Myths and Truths

If civil society volunteers in the world were the workforce of a country, it would rank fifth after China, India, the United States and Indonesia (2015 UN Volunteering Program report). Veselina Kavrakova will tell what types of civil organizations there are, why they exist, what they do and how they are financed. He will share from personal experience what it means to work in the civil sector, what people it attracts, what opportunities it offers, what problems it faces. As well as why civil society organizations are important to a society and what are the ways in which each of us can connect with the causes that interest him.
