Eng. Marin Gergov is a structural engineer, designer and consultant. For more than 30 years he has been working in the industry - young designer at Metalprokt, technical manager and CTO in Metal Structures, designer at IQI Bulgaria, head of construction department at Bates Bulgaria. For the last 7 years he has been a freelance designer. All this time he designed. In the period 2016-2020 he is the Chairman of the Section “Constructions of Buildings and Facilities” at the Sofia City Regional College of the CIIP. Since October 2020, he has been the Chairman of the Management Board of the CIIP.
In his session, Eng. Marin Gergov will tell you how the design profession has changed over time and with the introduction of new technologies. You will understand the specifics of working for young engineers in design organizations before 1989; how design changed with the advent of software in the 1990s; what happened to the design profession during the construction boom 2005-2009 and what are the new challenges in design with the advent of BIM (Building Information Modelling).
