Prof. Dr. Grigory Vazov

Prof. Dr. Grigory Vazov is the Rector of the Higher School of Insurance and Finance (VUZF) in the period 2008 - 2021. In 2016, he was awarded the honorary title “President and Rector Emeritus” of VUZF by the Board of Trustees of the Higher School.

He was president of VUZF from 2005 to 2017, and from 2002 to 2017 he was chairman of the board of trustees of the university. He is the Executive Director of the Laboratory for Scientific and Applied Research at VUZF (VUZF LAB). He was Chief Secretary of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria in the period 2012-2020. Since 2015 he is a member of the Supervisory Board of DZI - Total Insurance EAD and DZI - Life Insurance EAD, part of KBC Group. In 2015 he was elected a member of the Fiscal Council of the Republic of Bulgaria. He was Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at UNSS in the period 1998 - 2010.

He has been the manager of “Vazov Institute” EOOD since 1994.

In the period 1991-1994 he held the posts of Advisor to the Minister and Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Services. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the International Bank for Economic Cooperation, the International Investment Bank, and the Bank Consolidation Company. He is an honorary citizen of the municipality of Sopot.
